About This Internship & Practicum Placement

Intuitive Life Wellness is seeking a graduate-level practicum student or intern to join our clinical team. This is a paid, W-2 internship – not an unpaid placement or a 1099 arrangement – designed to give you real, supervised clinical hours toward licensure while contributing meaningfully to client care.

This position is open on a recurring basis, year-round – there is no fixed cohort start date, and we bring on interns whenever the fit is right.

Minimum commitment: This internship requires a minimum 6-month commitment. We do not offer preceptorships or other short-term, hours-only placements – every intern who joins us is expected to meet this minimum so we can invest fully in your training and you can see cases through.

About Our Practice & Approach to Therapy

To help you assess fit before applying, here’s how we work clinically. Our approach is holistic and integrative with a strong mind-body focus – we don’t work from a single manualized protocol, but draw on multiple frameworks depending on the client in front of us. We also practice within a psychedelic-informed, harm-reduction lens, and our clinical relationships are trauma-informed, person-centered, relational, and humanistic at their core – the therapeutic relationship itself is treated as a primary vehicle of change, not just a container for delivering techniques.

Compensation

You are paid an hourly wage for both direct client work and required administrative/documentation time – not a stipend, and not dependent on the number of clients seen.

• Clinical hourly rate: Clinical (client-facing) hours: Colorado’s current state minimum wage ($15.16/hour as of 2026, adjusted annually by law each January).
• Admin hourly rate: Administrative/documentation hours (notes, treatment plans, coordination): paid at the same rate as clinical hours – never unpaid or “off the clock.” Admin hours are paid at 30% of your client hours (i.e. 12 client hours per week = 3.6 admin hours)
• Admin time: Paid admin time scales with your caseload rather than being capped at a flat number of hours per week, so your documentation time keeps pace as your client load grows.

Most internships run closer to a full year, even though the required minimum is 6 months, to allow for a complete, well-rounded training experience.

• Paid Sick Leave (Colorado HFWA): You accrue paid sick leave (one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year) that you can use for your own health needs or to care for a family member.
• Paid Family & Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI): Colorado’s paid leave insurance program, funded through payroll contributions, provides paid time off for a serious personal or family health need, bonding with a new child, or certain safe-leave situations. Eligibility is based on wages earned, not how long you’ve been with us – most interns become eligible within the first few months of the internship.

Internship Requirements & Expectations

This is real clinical work with real accountability. Interns are expected to:

• Academic standing: Meet all requirements set by your graduate program for this placement, including maintaining good academic standing, carrying current professional liability (malpractice) insurance as required by your program (and if not required by the program, it is required by the practice), and completing any site-agreement paperwork between your school and our practice.
• Client population: Accept and carry a caseload that includes sliding-scale clients, Medicaid clients, and Kaiser clients as assigned – this is a core part of the training experience and how we serve our community.
• Documentation & practice standards: Complete same-day documentation, maintain client confidentiality (HIPAA), and follow all clinical, ethical, and legal standards set out in our practice handbook and your professional code of ethics.
• Clinical scope: Conduct intake, biopsychosocial assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing therapy/counseling for both individual and group clients.
• Group leadership: Design and lead at least one therapy or support group of your own – virtual or in-person – during your internship, with supervisory support.
• Supervision: Participate in weekly individual clinical supervision, plus any additional supervision or consultation sessions required by the practice.
• Additional requirements: Comply with Colorado’s mandatory reporting laws, complete required onboarding/training, and use our EHR system for all clinical documentation.
• Marketing participation: Participate in practice marketing to support your own caseload growth, including creating social media content, a marketing flyer and professional bio, a directory bio, and being listed as a provider on our website.

• Pathway to employment: Strong performers are considered first for our paid Pre-Licensed Clinician position once they graduate and begin post-graduate supervised practice.
• Private-practice business skills: Train in a private-practice setting rather than a community mental health (CMH) environment, building foundational business-development skills – marketing, branding, and caseload-building – alongside your clinical training.
